Colavito Art Form: Introducing a new art form that is 100% analog and 0% digital. The first of its kind based on the “21 Fundamental Principles of Pure Photography” by Michael Colavito.
The founders and master artists of photography advocated “straight photography” for over a century (also referred to as “pure photography”). These master artists cannot claim this purity, as they manipulated their negatives in the darkroom, thereby contradicting their own principles. Colavito Art Form redefines this purity as it relates to the science of photography regarding film and light with no interference whatsoever. Colavito Art Form uses chrome film exclusively, which cannot be manipulated after the image has been recorded on the film. All of Colavito’s fine art photography has been created using the “21 Fundamental Principles of Pure Photography”. Colavito’s lifetime body of original art illustrates the most comprehensive collection of photography based on absolute film purity ever created by an individual artist.
Colavito Art Form is created on large format 8×10 chrome film transparencies without digital programs, computer graphics imagery or special effects film editing of any kind. The film cannot be manipulated like an image from a negative in the darkroom. All works are created on the original chrome film following ethical guidelines with no blue or green screening; no in-camera masks; no painting on the film itself; no painting on bodies; no projection of images; no shooting through glass or mirrors; no color backdrops; no filters of any kind; no photographing of printed images or transparencies; no photographing of reflections; no polarizations; no colorations; no cross processing; no darkroom manipulation; no optical assemblage; no airbrushing; no retouching (digitally or otherwise); no Photoshop; and no manipulations whatsoever, outside of the natural boundaries of traditional image capture on the chrome film emulsion (i.e. absolute film purity through film and light).
